A very handy person

Need a helping hand with everyday jobs like replacing a tap washer, hanging curtains, decorating or just changing a light bulb?  Then Waterloo's Handyperson Service could be for you.
Waterloo residents over the age of 55, or who are disabled, can now get help with small, one-off repairs and tasks around the home. These include electrical, carpentry and plumbing work, as well as fitting safety and security features like extra locks.
The launch of the Handyperson Service has been given the seal of approval by Waterloo Residents Association (WRA).
The Handyperson Service is run by Broadening Choices for Older People (BCOP), a Birmingham based charity.
BCOP’s chief executive Marcus Fellows says: “Our skilled handymen work for up to two hours for each job.  They carry out tasks that will improve someone’s safety and wellbeing at home, including jobs residents feel unable or worried about doing themselves.”
The service starts in
January and, to begin with, is available to residents living in Birmingham and Solihull.  It has been made possible since we became part of the Waterloo Housing Group.
Waterloo have agreed a discounted rate for our residents of £12.50 per hour, plus any materials used.  BCOP will provide a quote before starting work, and then bill you direct once the job is completed.
To book the handyperson service, please call Gayle Kelly at BCOP on 0121 459 7670.  Remember to always ask to see proof of identity before allowing anyone into your home to work.
